Our Story

Why we're building Giggles & Growth

Because children deserve true care — not just a place to wait until pickup.

Children make the world a better place simply by being in it

At Giggles & Growth Clubhouse, we believe children make the world a better place simply by being in it. Here, we celebrate the giggles, nurture the growth, and create a clubhouse where every child belongs.

Our name, Giggles & Growth Clubhouse, was created with purpose and reflects the heart of who we are.

We recognize the profound importance of a child’s first five years of life. During these formative years, children develop the relationships, routines, experiences, and healthy habits that begin shaping who they are and establish the foundation for all the years that follow.

Giggles. Growth. Clubhouse.

Giggles

Giggles represent the joy, innocence, wonder, and authenticity of childhood. A child’s genuine belly laugh is contagious—it has the power to make us pause, reset, and appreciate the simplicity and beauty children bring into our lives as adults.

These moments also serve as an important reminder of the profound influence we have as adults. The environments we create, the relationships we build, and the experiences we provide during these early years can leave a lasting impact on a child’s life.

Growth

Growth represents the remarkable developmental journey that takes place throughout early childhood. From birth through age five, children are continuously growing—physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively, and linguistically.

We believe meaningful growth happens when children feel safe, valued, connected, and a genuine sense of belonging. Within that security, children gain the confidence to explore their environment, develop new skills, build relationships, reach developmental milestones, and begin discovering who they are, as they begin aspiring who they want to be.

Clubhouse

Clubhouse creates a feeling of belonging. Rather than sounding institutional, it suggests a special place children can call their own—a welcoming community where they build relationships, explore, play, learn, and feel safe being themselves.

Nonetheless, Giggles & Growth Clubhouse represents our commitment to protecting the wonder of the first five years while intentionally building the strong foundation children need for all the years that follow.

We went looking for great care. We didn't find it.

When it was time to find child care for our own family, we toured center after center. Too many felt the same: loud rooms where kids waited more than they played, teachers stretched too thin to really know each child, pre-packaged meals, and a rushed "they did fine" at pickup.

Our children deserved more than that. Every child does. They deserve adults who know their names, their favorite songs, and what makes them laugh. They deserve real food and days filled with real learning. And they deserve a place that treats their families like partners, not customers.

So we decided to build it ourselves.

A teacher and children together at the clubhouse
A bright, welcoming classroom

The clubhouse we wished existed

Giggles & Growth Clubhouse is being built from the ground up around one question: is this the place we'd want for our own children?

  • Teachers who are supported, trained, and given time to truly know each child
  • Meals cooked fresh every day in our own kitchen
  • Days built around purposeful play, outdoor time, and rest
  • Honest, daily communication with families
  • A safe, bright building designed just for young children

Every child known, valued, connected, and empowered to grow

At Giggles & Growth Clubhouse, our mission is to cultivate a safe, nurturing, and intentional early learning community where every child is known, valued, connected, and empowered to grow.

We are committed to supporting the whole child by recognizing and celebrating each stage of development. Through purposeful experiences, meaningful relationships, and intentional observation, we support and measure each child’s progress across the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and intellectual areas of development.

We believe every milestone matters, every connection has purpose, and every child deserves a strong foundation during the years that matter most.

Our signature approach

The First Five Framework

Atmosphere. Belonging. Connection. Development. Experience.

Inspired by the first five letters of the alphabet, our framework represents five foundational commitments that guide how we care for, educate, and connect with every child entrusted to us.

Atmosphere

We create a safe, positive, and nurturing atmosphere where children feel secure, supported, and free to explore, learn, play, and simply be children.

We believe safety is the foundation of learning. Before a child can confidently explore, connect, and grow, they must first feel physically and emotionally secure within their environment.

Belonging

We cultivate a healthy and inclusive culture where every child, family, and educator knows they are welcomed, valued, respected, and an important part of our Clubhouse community.

Belonging means more than being included—it means being known. We intentionally create an environment where children can develop their individual identities while experiencing the security of knowing there is a place where they belong.

Connection

We believe children grow through meaningful relationships, social interaction, and genuine human connection.

Our commitment to connection extends beyond surface-level interactions. We intentionally build meaningful relationships with our children, families, educators, peers, and the greater Franklin community. Through responsive and consistent relationships, children develop trust, communication skills, empathy, and the confidence to connect with the world around them.

Development

We honor each child’s individual developmental journey by meeting children where they are and intentionally supporting where they are going.

Through observation, purposeful teaching, and developmentally appropriate experiences, we support goals and milestones across the whole child—including social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development.

We recognize that development is not one-size-fits-all. Each child progresses at their own pace, and every milestone—big or small—is an opportunity to recognize, encourage, and celebrate growth.

Experience

We create purposeful, hands-on experiences that spark curiosity, encourage discovery, inspire creativity, and invite children to actively engage with the world around them.

Learning experiences extend beyond academics. We intentionally provide opportunities for children to identify and express emotions, practice self-regulation, solve problems, make choices, develop independence, build relationships, and strengthen their sense of self.

Through play, exploration, meaningful interactions, and intentional teaching, we strive to equip every little learner with the confidence, emotional security, resilience, and foundational skills needed to continue growing long after they leave our Clubhouse.

Atmosphere. Belonging. Connection. Development. Experience.

These five commitments are more than words—they are the foundation of how we serve children and families at Giggles & Growth Clubhouse.

Together, they allow us to protect the joy of childhood while intentionally nurturing the growth that takes place within it—creating a place where joy and growth truly belong together.

2

We talk with you

We share what we're seeing and plan the timing together, so there are no surprises.

Play with purpose

How children learn best

Our whole-child approach blends joyful play with intentional teaching.

A place where joy and growth belong together

At Giggles & Growth Clubhouse, we believe the first five years of life create a powerful foundation for a child’s future. Serving children from 6 weeks through 5 years old, we recognize these formative years as a time of extraordinary growth, discovery, connection, and development.

During early childhood, children begin discovering who they are, building relationships with others, exploring their environment, and developing the skills that will carry them into the years ahead. We believe these experiences should take place within an environment where each child’s safety, well-being, development, individuality, and sense of belonging remain at the heart of everything we do.

Our philosophy comes to life through our signature approach to early childhood education: The First Five Framework.

Explore the Framework

Play is how young children learn

When a toddler stacks blocks, they're exploring math and physics. When preschoolers act out a story, they're building language, empathy, and problem-solving.

At Giggles & Growth, play isn't a break from learning — it is the learning. Our teachers design each day with intention, then follow children's natural curiosity wherever it leads.

What everyday play is really teaching

It can look like "just playing." Here's the learning happening underneath.

What you'll seeWhat your child is learning
🧱 Building a block tower until it fallsBalance, cause and effect, counting, early engineering, and trying again after a setback
🍳 "Cooking" in the play kitchenNew vocabulary, taking turns, sorting and matching, and role-playing real life
💧 Pouring at the water tableMeasuring, more and less, hand strength, and hand-eye coordination for writing later
🎨 Painting with no "right answer"Creativity, fine-motor control, color mixing, and describing their work in words

What teachers actually do during play

👀

Observe

Teachers watch what each child is drawn to and where they're stretching, then note it.

❓

Ask, don't tell

"What do you think will happen if…?" Open questions push thinking further than giving the answer.

Getting Started

Preparing for the first day of daycare

Simple ways to help your child (and you!) feel ready and confident for that big first day.

The first day of child care is a big step for the whole family. A little preparation in the weeks before makes it feel familiar instead of brand new.

Two to three weeks before

  • Visit together. Tour the room, meet the teachers, and let your child explore while you're right there.
  • Shift routines gradually. Move wake-up, meal, and nap times a little at a time toward the school schedule.
  • Talk about it simply and positively. "At the clubhouse you'll play, eat lunch, nap, and then I'll pick you up." Picture books about starting school help too.

The week before

  • Pack and label everything together: spare clothes, sleep sack or blanket, and a comfort item.
  • Share your child's routines with the teachers: how they fall asleep, favorite foods, words they use, and what calms them.
  • If you can, plan a shorter first day or two so your child's first experience is a happy one.

On the day

  • Arrive a few minutes early so nobody feels rushed.
  • Keep goodbyes short, warm, and consistent (see our guide on separation anxiety).
  • Expect some tiredness or extra clinginess the first week. It's completely normal and usually passes quickly.

We'll send photos and updates during the day, so you can see how your child is settling in.

Emotions

Easing separation anxiety

Gentle goodbye routines and reassurance strategies that make drop-offs smoother for everyone.

Tears at drop-off are one of the most common and most normal parts of starting care. Separation anxiety is a sign of a healthy, secure attachment to you. With consistency, most children settle within a few weeks.

What helps

  • A short, predictable goodbye ritual. A hug, a special phrase ("See you after snack!"), and a wave at the window. Do the same thing every day.
  • Always say goodbye. Sneaking out can make children more anxious the next day because they aren't sure when you'll disappear.
  • Stay calm and confident. Children read our cues. A warm, matter-of-fact goodbye tells them this is a safe place.
  • Hand off to a trusted teacher. Their primary teacher will be ready to welcome them and help them into a favorite activity.
  • Bring a piece of home. A family photo or comfort object can help.

What we do on our side

We comfort, redirect gently, and keep you posted. Most children are playing happily within minutes of a parent leaving, and we'll send a photo so you can see it for yourself.

If distress stays strong for more than a few weeks, let's talk. We'll adjust the plan together.

Milestones

Potty training without the pressure

Signs of readiness and patient, positive tips for a calmer transition out of diapers.

There's no single "right" age for potty training. Many children show readiness somewhere between about 18 months and 3 years, and waiting for real readiness usually makes the process faster and calmer.

Signs your child may be ready

  • Staying dry for a couple of hours or waking up dry from naps
  • Noticing and telling you when they're wet or need to go
  • Showing interest in the toilet or in wearing underwear
  • Following simple directions and pulling pants up and down

Tips that help

  • Keep it positive. Praise effort, not just success, and treat accidents calmly.
  • Build a routine. Offer potty time after waking, after meals, and before going outside.
  • Dress for success. Easy-off pants beat overalls and tricky buttons.
  • Stay consistent between home and school. Tell us the words and routine you use, and we'll use the same ones.

Diapers and wipes are included in tuition, so there's never pressure to rush. We'll follow your child's lead together.

Development

Understanding developmental milestones

What to look for at each age — and why every child grows at their own pace.

Milestones are the skills most children reach by a certain age: how they play, learn, speak, move, and act. They're helpful guideposts, not a race. Children develop at different paces, and a skill arriving a little later is often nothing to worry about.

A few examples

  • Around 12 months: pulling to stand, waving bye-bye, and responding to their name.
  • Around 2 years: kicking a ball, pointing to things in a book, and saying at least two words together.
  • Around 3 years: talking in short conversations, playing with other children, and drawing a circle when shown how.
  • Around 4–5 years: telling a story, counting, and following rules in simple games.

How to use milestones

  • The CDC's milestone checklists and free Milestone Tracker app are a great, easy reference.
  • Bring questions to your child's well-child visits. Your pediatrician is your best partner for developmental screening.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, ask early. Early support makes a real difference.

We share observations about your child's growth regularly and are always happy to talk through any questions.

Daily Life

Building healthy routines at home

Sleep, meals, and screen-time rhythms that help little ones (and families) thrive.

Predictable routines help young children feel safe, cooperate more easily, and sleep better. You don't need a rigid schedule, just a rhythm that happens in about the same order each day.

Sleep

  • The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends about 11–14 hours of sleep in 24 hours (including naps) for ages 1–2, and 10–13 hours for ages 3–5.
  • A simple bedtime routine helps: bath, pajamas, teeth, books, and lights out, in the same order every night.

Meals

  • Offer meals and snacks at regular times, and let your child decide how much to eat.
  • Keep offering new foods. It can take many tries before a child accepts one. Our kitchen cooks fresh every day, and we're happy to share what your child loved.

Screens

  • The AAP advises avoiding screens other than video chatting for children under 18–24 months, and limiting screen use to about 1 hour a day of high-quality programming for ages 2–5, ideally watched together.

Tell us about your routines at home, and we'll keep things consistent at school.

School Ready

Is my child ready for kindergarten?

A friendly checklist of the skills that matter most — and how play builds every one.

Kindergarten readiness is about much more than knowing letters and numbers. Teachers often say the most important skills are social and emotional ones: being able to separate from family, follow routines, and get along with others.

A friendly checklist

  • Independence: uses the bathroom alone, manages a coat and backpack, opens a lunch container.
  • Social-emotional: takes turns, names feelings, asks an adult for help, and bounces back from small frustrations.
  • Listening: follows two- or three-step directions and sits for a short story.
  • Early literacy: recognizes their name and many letters, and enjoys being read to.
  • Early math: counts objects, recognizes some numbers, and notices shapes and patterns.
  • Fine motor: holds a crayon, uses scissors, and tries writing their name.

How play builds these skills

Building with blocks teaches math and problem-solving. Pretend play builds language and cooperation. Cooking, gardening, and art build focus and fine motor skills. That's why our Kindergarten Prep room is built around purposeful play and daily routines that mirror a school day.

In Wisconsin, children who turn 5 on or before September 1 are eligible for kindergarten that school year. Check with your school district for enrollment dates.
